My Ipod Touch is unable to browse using my home wi-fi. How can I resolve the problem?

My Ipod touch says it’s connected to my wi-fi (ATT U-Verse via 2wire router) but it can’t find any server nor can I hookup to any browser web sites. I have a PC not an apple. Does that matter? How can I fix my router or Ipod to allow them to communicate?
